Crowfoot Model 3
The Model 3 is a further riff on the same idea as the Model 2, but the 3 is sized to the same silhouette as a 1930s Epiphone Olympic archtop. The result is a larger, curvier body with a more pronounced waist. It feels very comfortable in your arms, and very satisfying. Note that this is a large body, so take that into account when choosing wood. I will be working on a chambered version of this body as well, for weight relief.
MODEL 3
Built with a 2-piece Sitka Spruce body, 24.75" scale African mahogany neck with Indian rosewood fretboard and short stack headstock. Bridge is a floating rosewood archtop bridge. Pickups are Lollar Alnico pole soapbar pickups, similar to Jazzmaster pickups but in a soapbar footprint. Pickup surrounds suggest a vintage dogear look while retaining greater adjustability of soapbars. |
MODEL 3DC
Built with a two-piece black limba body, a 25.5" scale white limba neck with rosewood fretboard and 6-in-line headstock with locking tuners and TUSQ XL nut and string tree. Mastery Offset Bridge, Bigsby tremolo. Pickups are custom-wound A4 humbuckers (moderate output) by Buddha Pickups. Very heavy, but killer tones. |
"Deep" M3 built for David Roth. 2.25" deep, extensively chambered African mahogany body, one-piece back and one-piece top. Honduran mahogany neck, rosewood board, 24.562" scale, from Warmoth. Textured nitro lacquer 2-color burst. Gotoh bridge, Grover tuners. Duesenberg Grand Vintage and Domino pickups.
M3C baritone. 1-piece sugar pine body, butterscotch blonde lacquer, acrylic pickguard. Warmoth baritone conversion neck, maple on maple. Fralin big single pickups, Schaller bridge, Gotoh tuners. 8lbs, 6oz total weight. Lightweight for its size, balances nicely with the baritone neck.
